Any O4 Performance #'s

Does anyone have any kind of performance #'s on the 04. I would like to know how the new 3v stacks up against the other engines around.

Ford electronically limits the speed to 97 in the computer it uses for engine control. That can be changed by use of a chip or computer programmer. As for why they block it at 97, I haven't a clue. But once the aftermarket (Superchips, Hypertech) spools up that can easily be changed.

That's not to bad for a fullsize truck IMO. It's a truck, so it doesn't surprise me. The regular cab, compared to a supercab, should be a little quicker in the quarter, and 0-60. But not by much. But, there is always mods to make it faster!

Thanks for the info guys. Right after I posted this I watched motor week on speed channel and saw they were reviewing a 04' supercab FX4 with 3.55 gears and here is how it went.

2004 Ford F-150

Engine 5.4-liter SOHC V-8

Horsepower 300

Torque 365 lb feet

0-60 mph 9.9 seconds

1/4 mile 17.4 seconds @ 81 mph

60-0 mph 150 feet

EPA Mileage 14 mpg city
18 mpg highway

I see now that the 2wd w/3.73 is about a sec. quicker in the 1/4 mile.

MPG

Funny, but the sticker on the 2004 FX4 says it gets 24 MPG on the highway in Canada.

Their stopwatch needs calibration.

My 2wd f150 would 0-60 in 8.3, with my 4x4 getting 8.6.

No problem. I would think that so long as you get 3.73's even the 4X4 wouldn't be too bad.

In that case, I'm moving up north. Mine is rated 14/18. I'm getting about 12 in pure city driving, but it only has 350 miles on it. So, if I move to Canada, my gas mileage will double, eh?

They must be putting something in the fuel up there in Canada to get that kind of milage.

Yup, they add additional gas to our gas to stretch out the gallons.

1 CDN Gallon = 1.2 US Gallon
-->
24 MP(C)G = 20 MP(US)G

... now if we start talking litres per 100km then the confusion really starts.
