Hey! He's half lab / half bassett hound named Max!

WRONG, FordforMe!

My husband has a deer rifle, a 4 wheeler, a boat, and two golden retrievers. And a Lariat on order... You just never know!

Deeno,

You are right! The only reason I got the ORP package was for the decal, and the harsher ride. IT IS a brotherhood, it sounds cool anyhow. My resale will also be higher because it is a "4x4 Off-Road". Someone will buy it for the same reason as I did.

Actually, it really wasn't my choice to get the ORP package, it just happened to be on the truck when I saw it in the lot. It had everything I wanted so I had to have it!

I have a Lariat on order and a Bull Terrier that might take your hand off if you stick it in my truck...

arouth,

Comparing the ride of a 4x4 F-150, particularily the FX4, to a 2wd is the problem. Test drive an 03 FX4 and compare it to the 04. That is why people are praising it.

Also, a 2004 FX4 weighs at least 800 pounds more than your 97 4x2. See where all that extra power in the 3V 5.4L went?

As some people have said, any 4wd F-150 is just as capable as an FX4. 4WD Lariat vs. FX4, image is the only difference (and cloth availible on FX4). Prices are similar. You can get black leather on a Lariat.

The guy who wrote the thing about the XLT looking plain is right. That is exactly what happened to me. I liked it, and ordered it. But then I sat in one and wasn't impressed. So now I'm trying to change my order to an FX4. I figured that with all the options I originally ordered on my XLT, I could get for about the same price on the FX4 because they came standard on it. So basically I got the same kind of truck w/ a better radio and better looks. It only cost me a few hundred more dollars. I think the gauge set up looks great. And I like the body color/two-tone bumber way better than the chrome bumper. The Lariat was never an option in my book. Just don't like the wood and leather.

By the way, does anyone know what the F stands for in FX4?

4 = four

4x4 = four by four = any variation of words/letters

FX4 = FourX4

That's it? Well that wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it stood for Fun or something like that. In Mexico is it a Q(Quatro)X4?

I've talked to two people that witnessed the bumper-hitched pull-off in Sacramento, and they confirmed the reports. Namely, that the '04 F150 dragged them all with ease. The only truck that gave any challenge was the Hemi Ram, but it got dragged too.

I'm not sure how the GM is going to do any eating, unless it be crow.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that pull-off set up by the Ford folks? I am a big fan of the new F-150 but I would be leary of beleiving anything set up by someone interested in taking our money. I'd rather see an independent, non-biased test, maybe one of the magazines will do something.

If it is true, I don't think you'll be seeing it set up by any of the others. lol

What, do you think Ford pulled a plug wire, or put the other trucks in neutral?

Do you think they wouldn't stoop to such a thing...

The pull off isn't anything I'd use to compare trucks. They were all running correctly, but I think the F-150's advantage was that it didn't spin tires. Once the others spun, they got drug backwards in a hurry.

The towing test was more of a comparison you can use, though and the F-150 shined in this one.

The other day I went to a dealer that had a 04 FX4 regular cab. It had the 18" BFG's and in my opinion was sweet from every angle I looked at. The interior just plain blew everything else out of the water. By comparison the extended cab sitting beside it that had tires that were barely big enough for a Ranger looked hideous. The tailgate emblem is a bit overdone, but I could live with it. The sticker on the FX4 was $32K plus some change!!! I think I would seriously wait for some rebates in about a month or two.
