Tailgate emblem

Does anyone know if the blue oval emblem on the tailgate of the '04 has pins in it?

If I end up buying an '04 removing that emblem would be my first mod if it didn't leave holes behind.

From what I hear, 'pins' will be the least of your problems. The body is molded around it. ie there is an oval shaped indent in the center of the tailgate.
Sucks, don't it?

I think the emblem is kinda cool, it tells everyone else that your truck is a Ford and that it's not some other lame pick-up

I would also submit that if the position of the emblem is truly a problem to you, wait until the 2005 year; it will most likely be moved. I've noticed that chevy will change the cosmetics of their tailgate every year. And, as we know, when the assembly like workers ar tired of the high production workload, they'll redesign the front end to slow the sales down.

Hopefully in 05 Ford will redesign the tailgate to look good once again. If I wanted something that told everybody the truck was a Ford I would buy one of them big *** stickers for the rear window and the front window that says Ford.

You ever notice how stupid those big *** stickers look? It makes me think the person that owns it continually forgets the brand of the vehicle he/she drives…

The tailgate won't keep me from buying one. I haven't seen one in person yet but in the pictures I've seen the emblem just doesn't look good to me. At least it's better than in the old days when they had F O R D in 10" letters painted across the gate.

Hey, I liked those HUGE oval stickers in the back window (though not enough to actually place one on mine) and the older BIG 10" letters they used to have.
but I sure don't like the placement of that oval on the 2004's. If I get one, and they change it for the 2005 model year, I will probably replace the whole tailgate with the newer one.

I like where it is. As I posted in another thread, IMO, they aren't going to change it anytime soon. I think all vehicles are going that way. It is in almost the same exact position on the new expeditions and explorers and I would look for it to change on the F250/350s sometime soon.

I like it!
But, then again, I liked the old tailgates with the 10 inch letters, too.
Maybe it's just me.

If Ford gets enough "input" from comsumers intending to buy soon, they WILL change it for 05...

I finally saw one in person today. I now know why I didn't like the emblem location that I saw in the pre release photos. The photos didn't have the dealer advertising on the right side of the tailgate to balance things out.

I think that Ford has the right to be ****y and put the "FORD" logo as big as they want in the tail gate!

Best selling truck for like 10 years right?

If I was doing Ford marketing i'd make it even bigger.

I'll take the huge Ford emblem anyday if they would get rid of the cheap black unpainted door handles and mirror housings

I saw them today at the nearest dealer. The tailgate emblem looks obnoxious and unbalanced. However I'm ordering those f-150 emblems as soon as possible. They read XLT 5.4 Triton on sides and tailgate. They will look sweet on my 2003 FX4.
