Oh, and Peacemaker you are just crazy...
Don't worry Burt, the new flareside will grow on you. Just give it time.

Burt: Thanks for the compliment.

Not bad, not bad at all. I was thinking of a different picture, maybe the regular ones that had a bit of a flare to the rear fender wells.

I would like to see one up close, but it does look nice...

I would rip the hind-end out of my jeans trying to get my foot on top of my wheel, the steps are so much easier to reach. I've never been screwed on bedspace, but a lot of people haul much larger things, I just like the flareside, it suits exactly what I need it for.

Saw one today

Saw a spankin' new '04 Flareside today, silver. Went past me when I was taking a walk. Looked weird to me, especially the view from the rear. Didn't look GOOD to me, just weirdly different.

To be fair, when I first saw the '97 F-150, the smooth lines up front around the cab looked weird to me then.

I just can't see getting all that excited about the '04 flareside styling. Reminds me more of that bizarre Avalanche than anything else. Maybe people like that look.

Saw a new Hummer yesterday, now THAT"s really dumb IMHO. The new version is domesticated from the original, lower stance, nice paint, phony light and grill guards, luggage racks(!) etc. Why would you shell out the big $ for that type of a rugged vehicle that's been denatured so it ain't really rugged? Here in tinsel town north (Santa Barbara) it's all about image, that's clear to see.

I don't know-

I had a 1999 FLare-side S'Cab, and loved it to death!

This new flareside- I'm gona retain judgement for now.
I'm not liking the way it looks in pictures. I'll have to see it in person. The old flares were beautifully integrated- these (2004)look like an after-thought.
