2003 and child seats
I currently have a 1978 F-100 that I am going to let go (original owner, 150,000 miles, never let me down). It is killing me but I need a vehicle that I can drive to work in and haul the kids. I am leaning to the 2004 Super Cab XL (need a good work truck) because of its additional 6 in., however, I could save a lot of money buying a 2003. Do any of you have child seats in a 2003 and if so how do they fit? Enough room for the 3 year old to move his feet? Go on a 5 hour trip? An infant seat facing backward? THANKS for the information.
(By the way....I feel a little out of the loop with all of you talking about Lariats and FX etc.....Wish I could afford one of these but I can't.)

Hey Steve.
My brother has a 97 Supercab and used it as his main vehicle for 2 kids from birth to 3 and 5 right now. It has been enough size for them and the seats worked well back there. They took many trips from MI to NC about 14 hours each way in that truck. However, I don'tknow how much longer they would be comfortable. I would say until about 10-12yrs they would be okay back there.
As for 03 vs. 04, maybe the discounts can afford you an 03 Supercrew vs. an 04 Supercab. It depends on how long you plan to keep this truck. If as long as your last one, maybe you want a little extra room for when the kids get bigger.
