A-Plan

To get a -plan pricing do you need to have a pin number like you do with x-plan pricing or do you need to go to the dealership that your close relative works with and purchase from there?

Yes, you'll need a PIN number just like the X-Plan. I'm using the A-Plan, too, and it saved me a bunch of $$. Order was placed on 7/11 and I'm waiting on order confirmation from my dealer. As an example of the savings, here are the prices for my truck.... '04 Lariat SCrew 4x2:

TOTAL VEHICLE & OPTIONS 34,980.00
DESTINATION & DELIVERY 795.00

-------------- --------------
TOTAL FOR VEHICLE 35,775.00
A / Z / D PLAN 30,216.35
X PLAN 31,575.00

Nice $5500 savings ! .. but only about $1100 below invoice, which is still pretty good. I can't wait...

Yep, need a pin to carry out the A-Plan transaction. However, many dealers will offer to tell/show you the A-plan price, at least in my area where a lot of customers use a discount plan. I just told them I was eligible for A-plan and they gave me prices. It wasn't until we started paperwork that I needed the PIN.

Indeed.. however, if you plan on using a trade in I would recommend having them give you the value BEFORE mentioning you will be using the A-Plan.... and you should also KNOW the trade in value of your vehicle. I knew the value of mine but made the mistake of mentioning the A-Plan first. I think they low-balled me on the value of my trade in.

Tell them A plan UP FRONT, it'll waste your time and theirs to figure retail and then switch to A plan. They may also refuse to sell at A plan. I talked to many dealers that refused "plan pricing" on Expeditions last year when they came out due to the low supply and high demand. Against A plan you should get wholesale for your used one not retail. Generally Loan value is a good rough guess on wholesale value, but not deffinate amount, some are worth more, some less. For example, 6 cyls, 5 speeds, and 4x2's aren't real valuable around here, but 4x4 Supercab 5.4L's are worth more than normal.

I have two junkers to get rid of with a trade-in so I know I can't get low-balled. I just want to be able to get as low of a selling price as possible. My wife wants the truck to be under 30k... I want an XLT or FX4 farely well loaded so A-Plan will be the key or I have to knock off a couple of options.
