2004 f-150

I just read in the August issue of Popular Mechanics magazine that ford plans to continue to produce the current f-150 along side the new version for another year. They will call it the f-150 heritage edition. For those of you who really like the current style you can still get one in 04.

That's interesting... so two body styles on one model? I wonder who gave out that information and, I wonder where they'll be made.

I'm pretty sure that they've totally retooled the factories for the 04...

I believe they did this back in '96. When they came out with the current body style, there was one year you could buy the old blocky body style or the new smooth body style.

I read that somewhere too. Maybe the plants which make less common or in demand trucks will be the last to be tooled over (ex. V6 manual). I can imagine it will take time to make such a big change and assume the F150 is built in several plants. So maybe the 2004 old style trucks will carryover as less common models? I know GM did this when I bought my 98, you could still purchase the old style truck as a 1500 for '99. Of course it took a year for them to bring out 2500 and 3500.

Exactly. Certain less popular mdoels will be carryover style and new style. And there are 4 or 5 F-150 plants I think, so it would be easy to re-tool some and not others.

Heritage will be built in Canada and Mexico.

The new '04 will be built in Kansas City, Norfolk, and Dearborn.
