Hey Ford

Just wanted to start a new thread to get some more ideas, and remind Ford of some of the other ideas that have been posted. Feel free to add some.

1. Locking glove box, or under-seat storage.

2. Would like to see how Sonic Blue would look on an FX4.

3. Performance package (Cold air intake, Flowmaster exhaust, and upgraded engine programing).

Just some ideas

I have a couple of nitpicking complaints to express...

The front end of the 4x4s are too low...even the FX4 model. Looks like a nose draggin Chevy. Make them sit more level again!

Crappy HT tread Continental tires on the FX4 package...these should at least have a decent AT tire on them

Based on pictures the console option with the captains chairs seems to intrude on legroom too much. Looks very similar to the Expedition which I found uncomfortable for a guy of my size.

Lack of a 6.5 foot bed option on the SCrew...hopefully this will come soon.

Ford emblem on grille and tailgate too big...shouldnt be centered on tailgate.

Many of the wheel choices are ugly IMO.

I still want a black over charcoal extended cab longbox Lariat in the worst way though!

Angry Easy Ones !

Provide both MP3 and XM radio as factory options.

Or at least allow credit for deleting radio.

jstevens...that is already offered on the current 2003 F150 with the STX package.

I'm sure there will be something similiar offered on the 04. No reason to have it and take it away.

More Specifically

I should have specified, on the Lariat that I ordered.

What makes it even worse is that the MP3 is offered on some 2004 models and not others. I suspect that all the models have the same general fittings, wiring, etc. I can get an after market unit that is probably better and interfaced to XM but the lack of a credit option is a real steamer.

options

Supercrew with 6.5 box, I know not original idea, but with a tailgate that would accept an eight foot load. It could be an option so it doesn't raise the price for everyone. My opinion but a much better idea than the avalanch (sp).
I could see the ads now, both trucks at the lumber yard, four guys in each truck. When their loaded the chebby leaves two guys behind.

Ah, yes...didn't realize you meant Lariat...that should be an option...

Actually, it's probably possible to that from the dealer...might just have to order them seperately, but then thats a lot more $$ most likely. :o

How about an automatic 4WD system like in the Expeditions and, dare I say, the Chevy's (AutoTrac). I think Ford should be offering this option on F-150's, since it's been available on the Expeditions and Explorers for years now. I don't know about you guys, but my truck can get pretty squirrelly in the rain.

- How about color matched wheel lip mouldings on the FX4. When I order a solid black FX4, I want a solid black FX4, not all black with dark grey mouldings!

-OK you say, I should order a Lariat in all balck , it get chrome bumpers looks great, yes, But I can't delete the wood interior trim... Make it happen.

- Make the center console lockable (GM does!)

- Offer a good factory retractable bed cover.

- I'd like to see the rear seats in the Supercrew fold up and out of the way like the new Titan crew cab. (instead of down and in the way) Have you seen the pics of the rear cab of the Titan when the seats are folded up? MAJOR storage room vs Ford.

- The fold flat passenger front seat on the Titan is also a good idea we should "borrow".

- How about a special 4wd version. It could have the ride height of a 2wd, but with the 4wd hardware. Most people in the snow belt need 4wd for winter traction/control, not for clearance when off roading. Easier to get in/out (step in height), easier to reach in that tall bed, better fuel mileage etc... Wouldn't look as good, but I'm sure many people would like it...

- How about making factory running boards available for the FX4. Not everyone wants the available tube style as gravel destroys them (rust), and they collect mud.

Thats a good start...

Angry

I must admit that I'm disappointed with Ford's option listing for the 2004. Not all of us need an extended/super cab, and in some cases, that's more of a disadvantage. I pull a 3000 pound Ranger bass boat, and got tired of the longer wheelbase of an extended cab truck. I bought the Ford reg cab with Flareside, and it truly maneuvers the trailer through parking lots much better. However, I miss the luxury, advanced electronics and gas mileage of the GMC truck, which, by the way, had the tightest turning radius of the extended cab market. I need a regular cab with some storage space behind the seat, and a step-side bed for accessing the boat on the launch ramp. I also need enough torque to maintain highway speed going up the Ozarks. I was hoping that the new Ford would offer "luxury" in a regular cab; but alas, leather and buttons are not available. I don't need a 4x4, and I'm not happy with the ride and heighth of my 03 Ford 4x4. Its a dilemma! The best truck for me is a Dodge Laramie cab, with the Ford Flareside bed, and the GM powertrain. Their Autotrac drive system is unbelievably secure in sloppy driving conditions. So, if FORD is reading this, please make a truck that is comfortable, powerful, with storage, and has a turn radius less than 41 feet.
