There is no way you will get it in June or July. The plants are down for the first 2 weeks in July and job 1 for the 2004 is late July meaning you won't even see them on dealer lots until probably September or October. Sorry to burst your bubble. My dealer says they will start taking orders most likely on May.

I am not sure if even the dealers know for sure when actual orders are going to be allowed or what the price structures are going to be.

From reading posts on the different Websites and talking to my own local Dealer It has become obvious that everyone is getting different answers from Ford. After all of the hard work Ford engineers and technical workers put in developing what appears to be a quite competent and exciting product, Ford's marketing people may well be botching the new F150 release with misleading, incomplete and inaccurate information.

The wife of one of my best friends works in sales for a Chevrolete Dealer and has been there for a very long time. She knows I am going to be buying a truck soon and says she can get me the bed/cab configuration I want within 2 weeks of ordering, and with her personal employee discounts and rebates I can save ten grand under sticker.

If Ford does not release good information very, very soon I will be driving a new 4X4 extended cab, 8 foot bed with 300 horse power heavy duty 3/4 ton Chevy with leather captains chairs and full consol by early June. It will also have the in dash CD changer with 6 speaker Bose stereo. Satellite Radio and On Star navigation. And it will cost me much less than a 1/2 ton Ford, (comparably equiped).

Most of my vehicles over the years have been Fords but I have grown tired of their snotty little trim packaging games.*&!t they even play games with the color of paint you can have. The new Chevys don't look bad to me (Some think they are ugly) so if Ford does not get off their posterior they will lose me as a customer.

I'm not really sure I follow this line of logic. Ford's public marketing has said all along that the 2004 model would be available in Fall of 2003. If your intent is to buy a new truck in late Spring, the 2004 F150 would not be a candidate anyway. If it comes out earlier, that's a bonus for everyone. But if it comes out when planned then its not viable option for you if your intent is to buy in June anyway.

Job 1 is June 16th at the first plant that will build the 2004. I think it is the Norfolk plant.

Sorry and no disrespect intended but I do not believe for a minute anyone can buy a truck or any auto for $10,000 under sticker. Yes there is a mark-up for profit and the middle man but no where close to $10,000.

I mean think about it thats a 33.3% discount on a $30,000 truck. Ain't happening in this life time. Then again with Chevy and the price of plastic falling, it may be possible...

Whether true or not, how desperate would you have to be to sell a vehicle with that large a price cut? I heard GM is offering a $4,000 rebate on the Avalanche. Does anybody else hear desperation knocking at GM's door?

I don't here desperation knocking but I do see it in the Chevy styling. It crys out to be put into a dark garage so no one can see it...

Wink Its easy to find a Fugly truck like chevy...no one else wants em

/// If does not release good information very, very soon I will be driving a new 4X4 extended cab, 8 foot bed with 300 horse power heavy duty 3/4 ton Chevy with leather captains chairs and full consol by early June.///

"Ford will start building the 2004 F-150 in June (16th) and hit showroom floors in August. Lyons said the price won't be that far off from the current price, which averages from a bare-bones $18,000 to $38,000.

Auto enthusiasts could spend hours cataloging all the changes Ford has made in the F-150, from its chassis and steering system to bigger passenger and interior storage compartments.

Perhaps most interesting, from a marketing standpoint, is the fact that the truck will offer the industry's widest variety of body and trim configurations, with five different F-150 packages featuring three different box lengths and two distinct box styles. All will come with four doors, of one size or another. "

Sure its a lot easier to find a Chevy truck, thats cuz they aren't selling and therefore there are plenty to choose from gatherering dust on Chevy lots,.... thats because they are UGLY, and already OUT OF DATE and TIRED! Why do you think Chevy needs to give such huge rebates, because they won't sell without them. Chevy is desperate and every one know it.

That $4,000 rebate isn't much on the Avalanche considering how over priced that hulk of plastic is. Hell, they could double that rebate & it would still be too much! The market for this particular vehicle has come down to earth for GM & it's showing!
PS-- I'd hate to a Avalanche owner right now, can you imagine how much they are depreciating right now, resale values on them are for sh*t !

Their sales are down 29.5% from last year, and they weren't that great last year. I would offer major rebates, too.
