Nick,

There you go again!! It is MONTHS before launch and you are bitching about getting the correct information and laying blame on Ford's marketing department about them botching the launch.

Give me a break!

I am looking at a chevy truck brochure and on the back of it is a little disclaimer (heard of those?) indicating about the possibility of errors, etc. It is a fact of life.

As for $10 grand under sticker-what planet are you on? This from a dealership employees connections! I have a family member who is retired from GM. I get the lowest cost of anyone out there. I have priced them out in the past and they are not $10k less, not even close. If the truck you wants retails at $35K-the dealer's cost is roughly $31500-minus the $2000 incentive-GM owners add $1000-this puts you in the $29k territory.

If you want a new truck by June-go buy something else. If you don't mind waiting until late summer than the Ford may be right for you-but you keep in mind the cargo bed/trim level configuration.

If you are a loyal Ford man than you will stay that way. If not, I know a great Chevy owner's web site.

I guess I will have to find someone else to sway out grills now!!

I saw a pic of the 03 late release of a Avalanche without the plastic and it looks alot better. I also drove a z66 avlanche and the comfort and ride was awesome. I'm waiting for the new 150 however because I bleed blue!!!!!!! I also read on a avalanche forum and they have alot of problems with them and I mean alot!

Wow,
Never saw my screen turn red before. I priced out the truck on Chevy's web site and the MSRP with the options I chose put it over 41,000 dollars. When loaded you can deal for a larger percentage discount than with lesser equiped trucks because of the mark up put on every item. 15% is not an unrealistic discount plus rebates and cash incentives. Remember, markup on trucks is outragous because they are outselling automobiles and they have such a high resale value. With the dealer discount and the fact that she owes me a favor and will rebate her comission to me I will come out well over 9 grand.. Because of the discounts and rebates my sales tax is also much less than it would be if I was paying regular pricing. Not exactly ten grand but close.

I can wait a few more months to take possesion of my new truck if I had the information I needed to make a comparison and I will pay more for the Ford as long as they don't try to gouge me too badly. Some people are posting the fact that they are getting brochures from their dealer and mine keeps telling me they know nothing. That and the fact that my salesman literally tried to guide me out of the door the weekend before last is why I am upset with sales and marketing.

Man, I'm just looking for accurate information.

has Chevy released pricing or brochures on their '04 models yet? I don't think so, why should Ford?

The brochures people are talking about is a small pamphlet they are giving away the car shows. You can get it off the Ford web site. It doesnlt say anything you haven't already heard.

If you need something now, get an '03 F-Series!

When you are comparing to Chevy, remember, its always easier to buy swamp land in Florida than it is to buy beach front property in California. You also get what you pay for. Sure its easy to get a Chevy, no one else wants one unless they have huge rebates on them.

Cool

I was told mid April by my dealership also......frankly, since the official release is in the fall, anything earlier is a bonus to me
Ford marketing won't give anything else officially but fall to ensure that the product delivered is up to the task of being scrutinized by the public. Count on plenty of evaluation time for the launch vehicles to ensure quality which is why I don't think I'll see my truck before the end of summer.....It'll be worth it!

GM is ****TY, sorry but thats my experiences. Before i got my f150, i had my uncles 2500 hd extended cab slt for 2 weeks while he was out of town to try it out. it had power, but rode crappy, the stearing was WAY to tight, and turned ****ty, it did tow nicely, and their interiors are nice but thats about it. ford is fixing the interiors for 04, but thats why i got the ford and not the GMC or ****ty AKA CHEVY

Nick,

I did not mean to rag on you to much but you have made your point.

Sounds like a hell of a deal from your friend-if you can pull it off that would be great. Ford will not deal like that for awhile.

I to am puzzled by the lack of cab configurations-that will probably change as they find out where their lost sales are going.

I'm planning on getting the first 04 from my dealer, and I'm getting it because I'll be getting it at rock-bottom pricing, and because this one promises to be one hell of a truck. I've never been a big Ford fan, but did agree that Ford did trucks well. But face it...for years trucks were ALL they did well. Certainly in the looks department anyways. There was the T-bird and the Mustang, but everything else they produced in the 60's and 70's was pretty darn ugly! Even some of the Mustangs weren't all that great. Remember the "Charlies angels" Mustang II??

Chevy, Pontiac and Mopar ruled on looks. The new Chevy truck is pretty ugly, I'll freely admit. Ford is just now (imo) making decent looking vehicles, and GM is in a designing slump (seemingly). Mopar is making the most interesting vehicles these days, from an appearence standpoint. It's up to you, but you might consider cutting GM some rope.

From what I can recall, I thought Dodge, GMC and Chevy Trucks were the ugliest trucks on the market. AND it took years for them to finally come out with decent looking ones. If I had to cut GM some rope, it would be the rope its hanging from off a 30 story bridge .

I didn't mean to come off like a silver and black covered Raiders fan sitting in the 9ers section, I just think that over the long term Ford still has some catching up to do in the looks department. I still think the '56 Ford was one of the best looking trucks of all time. If GM only made trucks, they'd be in pretty bad shape right about now. lol
