2004 F-150 sighting

Saw four (4) new F-150s on I-95 southbound in southern Virginia this morning, identical, all black, running nose to tail, and a fifth a few miles back trying to catch up.
Anyone have any idea what they might've been doing before the on-sale date? Manufacturer's road test or durability run?
Just a curious sighting and am interested.

Ya they build em in my town and they always drive em around with on board computers to check em out, especially for squeeks and road noise. Thats what they tell me!!!

How would you like to go to work every day and see 100 new Lightnings parked just begging me to hop the fence and take one!!!

I was talking to an employee from the Virginia assembly plant at the detroit show and he was telling me about how they absolutely could not drive these vehicles out of the plant area without a camaflouge (?) kit. If you think about it, they did a pretty good job keeping these vehicles under cover. We saw a few spy photos but not much else.

I am sure they are just out there testing them-preproduction models for sure-production starts June 9th.

Job 1 starts June 16th, the 100th Anniversay of Ford, thought they will surely be building pre-job 1s for testing before that date I would think.
