Hey all. Been on as guest forever. Have had my 99 xlt about 10 years. $500 then put in probably 10k over the years. Not bad. Now I’ve got full leather 60/40 power split, custom sound, replaced engine, trans, pretty much everything. Couple weeks ago had weird ticking sound. Pulled oil cap and white smoke inside. Runner control rod fell off. Replaced. Then welded new exhaust. Custom “fake” dual exhaust, painted the truck after fixing minor body dings. So I leave Fl, rattling stops as I’m driving…3 hours in I hit Brunswick GA and engine light flashing seriously fast and truck shifts down. I take exit and as I pull into gas station engine seized. Now I was on my way to MA pulling empty 16ft double axle cargo hauler. I’ve done it a lot with the 4.2 v6. No issues. The engine was from ford 2018 with only 108k. Last one went 208k and abused. This one was well taken care of. I’ve pulled everything front of motor and timing chain looks fine. Can’t move engine forward or backwards. Probably gonna order new engine again. Ford doesn’t sell them but AutoZone does. 4yr warranty. About $2300. Anyway. Want to fix this if worth while. Anyone ever had this happen. No low oil, no loss of oil pressure, just freaking seized.
Stay away from Autozone engines. These are good and have an excellent warranty:
