Iridium plugs out of fashion?

Hello all! We have a 2001 F150 Super-crew (5.4L/2V, Automatic transmission, 2 wheel drive) and are looking to get new spark plugs. I remember having them changed many years ago (at around 100,000 miles) and was told they had to be Iridium spark plugs. Is that still the case? I look at the Fordparts.com and they list several Motorcraft plugs for this vehicle, but none say Iridium. Do I need iridium anymore? What's the best plug for this tuck?

The recommended plug is Motorcraft platinum, not iridium. Good for up to 100k.

No antiseize, 28 ft/lb on 2 valve engines when Motorcraft plugs are used.

The Ford manual states spark plug torque at 12 ft lbs. NOT ENOUGH! The current recommendation is 28 ft lbs and not to use anti-seize.
I replaced my original plugs at 119k miles with Motorcraft and I used anti-seize. No plug blowouts. Recently at 171k miles, I started getting misfires, first on number 5 cyl, then number 8, then number 6. It was plugs on number 5 & 6 and coil on 8 I think. Anyhow, I replaced all of the plugs and cops with Denso iridium plugs with Motorcraft cops and still used anti-seize. I left the plug gap at what they came with which was about 0.040". I'll see how it goes. I don't always follow the current recommendations....
My 5.4 idled smoothly without missing at all for the 1st 119,000 miles. After changing the plugs it still idled smoothly for a good while. But the last 10 or 20 thousand miles it had a slight miss at idle. Now, with the new plugs and cops, it idles smoothly again!
