4.2 heater hose outlet tube

Hey Guys,

I just replaced my 2001 4.2 water pump which necessitated me replacing the heater hose outlet tube which sets on top of the pump because when I took it off the old pump, it crumbled. I bought a new tube but and have inserted it into the new water pump, but I get a leak. I replaced the o-ring twice, but I still get a leak. Any ideas?

Kenny

No. The impeller had corroded to the point where it was no longer pushing water. Such things happen with a 20+ year old water pump.

that doesn’t answer the question at all

so I’ll try to ask in another way, and hope for the best

Is the tube oval instead of being round?

corrosion on the tube? have you tried a new tube?

Yes, I bought a new tube. It cost more than the water pump. I some silicone might be the answer.
