Stalled while driving

Hello I have a 98 F150 2WD that stalled on me while driving back home. I noticed it was losing speed and the RPM was going around the 5000s. Pulled to the side and turned it off. When I tried to turn it on afterwards I heard squeaking and the starter turning. After a while the battery died, so I jumped it and tried to turn it on and still nothing(other than the starter turning). Any ideas what could be the cause? Hope this post makes sense(long day)

What engine, and what transmission?

So if it stalled while driving, but the RPMs were going 5000, how did it stall when you turned it off? I'm confused, sorry.

it’s okay, been a long day for me, and to put it better I noticed that my RPMs where way higher than usual around 2000 and every time I pressed on the gas the RPMs jumped to 5000.
And I was loosing speed when I saw that. Hopefully this makes more sense

It sounds as if your torque converter (possibly the stator tube) is broke. Something sounds like it's binding when you mention squeaking when starting.

This will need professional service if you aren't sure about transmissions.
