Does is matter? MERCON, MERCON V

Is it vital that I use Mercon v in my 2000 f150, 4R70W transmission?

Yes. Mercon is long discontinued. You should also drain the torque converter in addition to dropping the pan. You will need about 14 quarts.

Yes, for you it matters.

Your transmission left the factory filled with MERCON V. Do not step backwards and use a compatible that only meets the old MERCON specification.

You could use one of the newer fluids that covers both (and more) specifications if you want to. Personally, I've moved over to the Valvoline MaxLife formulation for everything I own, from my 95 Mustang through my 2015 Explorer. I only have to keep one fluid type on hand now

I assumed I have some Mercon in my garage, not Mercon V. From what I had read, I thought this ATF (attached) is Mercon. Yes No?

Is this the OEM Ford ATF? (attached)

Is Mercon V a Synthetic or Non-Synthetic ATF?

That Castrol is Mercon. Don't use it in your truck unless it says it meets Mercon V specs.

Same with the Motorcraft fluid you posted.

I believe Mercon V is synthetic blend..

The Motorcraft AT that I posted reads Mercon V on the front of the bottle doesnt it, or is there something I am missing?

Also... this other Brand of Mercon V ATF from Walmart... Is it just as good of ATF fluid? (attached below)

is Basically All/Any "Mercon V" just about All The Same?

Well. any fluid that "meets specifications" is good enough. That is, it meets the required specification.

Don't make this any harder than it needs to be.
