Yellow plunger thing in bottom of tranny pan

I saw this on a posting this morning and it blew me away. I spent a couple of hours yesterday beating my head trying to figure out how this got into the bottom of my transmission pan. Then a couple hours trying to find out by sight where it came from. And then checking out the web to no avail. Low and behold, looking for torque specs this morning and find this on your site. I just had to sign up.

Yep, the first time the pan is removed, you see the plug and wonder what the heck it is and what is it doing in my trans pan? So, now you know the pan has never been off before. It's probably due a filter change.

To be more specific:

It's supposed to be there. Ford uses it to plug the dipstick hole in the tranny before the dipstick gets installed. When the dipstick tube is installed, it falls on the bottom of the transmission pan. They all have one if the pan has never been off.
Second post in the sticky thread in the Transmissions forum.
