Weird electrical malfunction

My turn signals, wipers and A/C fan all stopped working at the same time. Someone suggested it could be the GEM. I looked at the wiring schematic for the GEM and it seems that all 3 of those run through it. Any ideas?

Have you checked any fuses or anything? Don't just start throwing a new gem at it

Ideas? Yeah, carefully check the wiring and the connectors of everything that feeds INTO the GEM. Look at the schematic and see if all three of those circuits aren't being fed from one fused circuit and feed into the GEM and then out to the devices. Get a voltmeter and see if you have power going into the GEM and coming out to each of the devices.

Look again. The turn signals and the A/C blower do NOT pass through the GEM module.

While you're at it, EXPLICITLY identify what you're working on. There are variations and no one here is psychic.

All of you better rethink doing all this guessing and stop the non sense
The A/C and Turn signals DO NOT go to or from the GEM.
The A/C Blower is fed from a 40 amp fuse through a relay.
That relay is switched by manually operating the dash Mode switch only.
The Turn Signals have nothing to do with the GEM. You manually operate them.
The Wipers are controlled for speed from the Gem. That is the only relation to the Gem.
What is 'common' to all of these circuits is the Ground behind the driver kick panel.
All these circuits draw large currents especially if operated together.
A poor and rusted ground connection will affect them all.
If you don't know what your talking about, don't reply and miss lead others.
By the way, this info is backed up from Ford's wiring Document in case any want to disagree.
I looked it up to be sure.

Good luck.

G200 is indeed common between the three items noted, but it is also serves as the common ground to over a dozen other items which weren't mentioned by the OP.

I've checked all the fuses are good, all the connections are tight. The reason I suspect the GEM is that the affected circuits all run through it, according to the wiring diagram. Thanks for the reply.

The A/C Blower motor does not go through the Gem. For what reason would it? You already have a manual speed switch.
For what reason would the Turn signals go through the GEM? They are powered through the headlight switch you turn on by a dash switch and supplied fuse power from a fuse panel. No Gem needed..
What does control the fan power is the Ignition switch in the ON position. The FAN is a high current DC motor and would not go through a module but a relay. that can handle the high current especially on Hi speed.
The headlights and 4 ways work anytime. ignition On or OFF. Don't need the Gem for this function.
You can't see the problem by looking at this incorrectly.
Good luck.

I replaced my (1997) GEM recently to address the simultaneous and intermittent failure of my power windows and windshield wipers, and am happy to report that I got both of those back, and the parasitic battery drain I was going to go look for seems to also have disappeared. On the other hand, I managed to lose my turn signals in the process. I've tested the relay and the turn signal switch, and both seemed to be working (plus, my hazards still work). What bluegrass said earlier about a ground issue got me thinking I should explore that more carefully, because shortly after I replaced the GEM, the truck wouldn't start at all. When I touched a test lead to the relevant fuse as I turned the ignition switch, it started right up (and the test lead lit up, of course). It happened that way a couple more times, and now it starts right up every time. Can anyone recommend good resources for learning how to troubleshoot electrical/ground issues like these?
