brake light on dash with park brake engaged?

am I supposed to have a light on my dash saying BRAKE if my parling brake is pressed down to the floor?

I don't. fluid level in the master is full. also have that TSB fuse harness thing on the MC. cruise control works fine.

Mine turns on as soon as I step on the parking brake to the first click, in fact it sometimes stays on when I release it if the pedal doesn't come all the way up.

That's what I thought it should do.

I don't ever recall this truck doing that though. And maybe just now noticed it?

Where should I start looking to get this working properly?

its a simple switch on the parking brake lever.....mine is 50-50 . just like an old brake light switch. Should just need to be removed and clean the contacts.

well, I removed it.... switch tests good with an ohmmeter..... I did hit the contacts on my wire wheel. I will get some electrical parts contact cleaner in the morning. I also found my tube of dielectric grease....

I did plug a test wire into the female spade in the harness, and ground it out to some bracket somewhere, and the light did come on on the dash....

so hopefully it is just dirty contacts.... I will try also and see what I can spray contact cleaner on down there to possibly try to clean up some of the grounds maybe

getting that switch out was a BEOTTCH!!!!!! could just be my bear paws, but man, that sucked

on another note, saw my neighbor today, he has a 2001 supercrew, he said his light also doesn't work. he just doesn't care to do anything about it. but has driven somewhere and then been like "what's that smell?" DOH!

Well got it done, and it works. Didn't even get cleaner. Just used a baby wire brush on a dremel and got the contacts on the switch

Used all the screws, so that's a plus, and don't have extras.

I did break some plastic, not sure from where though. And some clips

. Oh well.
