Broken Coil Spring - looking for DIY

Got a broken coil spring on my son's '97 RWD 4.6 (205K). Can only find one post on replacement in this forum (below). And no YouTube videos (for 97-2003).

Anyone have more info on the procedure?

thats it..... you will need a floor jack to reassemble it....with the spring sitting in the lca AND spindle already attached to LOWER ball joint place the jack as close to lower ball joint as you can.....jack it up till spindle meets UCA ball joint...wiggle jiggle and jack till ball joint is ALL THE WAY IN spindle. Install nut remove jack then finish re-assembly and tighten everything.

Most parts stores will loan you a spring compressor.

Or you can pick yourself up a cheap spring compressor from the Harbour Frought.

Remember: When working on springs, be very careful and watch for pinch points! You don't need to be losing a finger or having it "spring" apart in your face.

Good luck.
