For $15, is what I posted a bad idea? I really don't care to go to the hardware store, get pipe, file it down, etc. Also I think this looks better than the people that use the pipe and a huge rubber on top with the 2 clamps. And I would spend the same or close trying to cobble it together myself.

Do let us know how much gain in power you feel beside just more noise.
You already have cold air. No gain to be had.
The motor can take all the air it can use with the stock intake tube
You cannot make the motor take any more air for normal driving. The throttle body controls the air flow via your foot regardless of how big the inlet is.
Good luck.

My truck is already loud. I have a performance tune on it. It is set up for 91 octane. I know it shifts a lot firmer than stock for sure. Also, the tune made it louder. My truck has 4 cats and piping, no resonators or mufflers, and exits via one 3.5" out the side in front of the rear right wheel.

Honestly, this is the gott's mod. Cost $15. So what the heck. It can't hurt.

This is 3d printed.

Edit: here it is next to a 2 liter soda bottle

Put it in. It fits a little loose. But honestly, if is does suck any air in through a 1/16" gap or less, I doubt it will really be an issue.

Looks good though.

so either my brakes are making noise, or the gotts mod is. iwill try and isolate it tomorrow...... from low speeds, like 15-1 mph, I get a chirping, like a mouse in a wheel squeaking noise...... but stopped at idle, it isn't there, and I don't hear it above 15mph

not sure if it is my brakes or the gotts mod, but will try to isolate it tomorrow and report back.....

Jimbo - I doubt the Gotts mod is giving you the noise you described. When I did that mod on my old F150, there was no change in the sounds at all. If it's happening when you're moving, I'd suspect some foreign object like a small stone that's been caught in your brake assembly. This happened to me once, after driving on a dirt road.

The chirping may be the pad wear scratchers.

It is not the gotts mod. So i put it back in.

Can't see any issues with the brakes so far. The pads have less than 2k miles on the and are fine. Going to go get some anti squeal spray right now.

Only checked the right side so far.

Fixed it. Wasn't even the fronts....

Left rear upper slide. Decided to break the locking tab off, and slide over, into the wheel.... so it was a thin piece of metal rubbing a rotating metal piece..... didn't chew up the wheel too much luckily. And one of my local auto parts stores had a hardware kit in stock. Was cheap.
