Due to the fact that I cant get the search to only work for this subforum, figured I'd ask in new thread.

#1 Bolt-ons for my 99 5.4..just need a list not to worried about price.

#2 if I'm going to run a s/c do I have to have the pi heads?.

#3 what gears yall suggest for 35" tires?

TIA y'all

The search here works fine. 4.56 gears are good for 35s. What is your goal? And realistically budget. You said bolt on, but if you are trying to bolt on a supercharger on a 20 year old truck, you are going to blow your engine.

The 99 should have PI heads. I have a 99 aluminum intake that is PI.

4.56 gears work rather well with 35"'s its a little bump over stock...not very much. IF you are towing ANYTHING heavy (4000+ lbs) i would step up to the 4.88.
Obviously would need a programmer to adjust speedo (better than $100 to flash it at the dealer IMHO)

Thanks. I dont plan on towing a lot, this is more of a secondary vehicle now. Any suggestions on who has the good gears for a low price?

you wouldn't believe me when i tell you.....REALLY

1st it depends on EXACTLY what gear ratio you want to run! due to the 8.8 REVERSE CUT front diff. Not everybody makes these and those that do only make SOME ratio's ...and YES front and rear MUST be IDENTICAL ratio's (not building a mud buggy)
Armed with this info....decide on 2 ratios...then go find them. I am a bit of a stickler on things therefore I personally required BOTH sets from the same manufacturer.

I went with YUKON gear. I am pleasantly surprised with the quality as i have done many gear sets with my Trans Ams (ZOOM,Richmond,Strange, US gear....etc)
The 9.75 gear set is $$$$$ (welcome to the world) btw you do not need JUST gears (unless you have 20 yrs worth of setting them up left over supplies.. ) You will also need/want a SUPER SHIMS kit so you can set them up WELL WORTH THE $60 EACH

WOW prices have gone up. $400 each ...so your looking $1000 to do it yourself probably $1400 to have it done.
I actually found my YUKON gears ordered thru AUTOZONE....lol with coupon and SPECIAL i gave about $450 for BOTH...been about 4 yrs
