They will help you, but they will charge you standard shop labor rates and retail price for parts. The warranty expired about 18 years ago.

It depends on what "help" means. They will fix your truck, but there will be a charge for it. Indeed, they charge for everything all of the time. The look for ways to weasel out of warranty service, but your warranty ran out at least 15 years ago. If you are happy to cut a check when you go to pick up your truck, they will be happy to help.

Not at any dealer I've been to.. They all charge a "diagnostic" fee. Varies I'm sure from shop to shop, but I seem to recall it being around $100.

And that's usually just hooking up a scan tool and telling you the code...

If they have to put a wrench to anything, I think shop rates apply??

What did you hear that makes you think a dealer would do free work on a 21 year old truck?

Mitch

Heck, I don't work on other's vehicles without something... minimally a case of booze or some Ben Frank's... unless I owe them, which might be a whole 'nother story.

You get what you pay for. Free means it's just a guess from someone who probably doesn't know much and might have stayed at a holiday inn last night

Diagnosing the vehicle means you're drilling down to the root cause of the issue

Yeah, no. They will not do any sort of diagnostic for free. What are you trying to fix? If you want free advice, you're in as good of a place as any to get it.
