235 tire width too thin?

I'm trying to decide on a new tire and am debating between 265/75x16 and 235/85x16. I'm not concerned about fitment but I'm just wondering if the 235 size tires would look strange because they're so thin, thoughts? I have factory wheels and suspension and by the way, I have 265/75x16 on my truck right now.

Why don't you put the stock 255/70's on?

The stock size is only about 30" and the two that I'm thinking about are both 31.7" and I just like the way that size looks on the truck

If you go off road much, the wider tire may be better suited for that kind of use. I drive out on the beach a lot and I'd like to have a wider tire on my 02 than the stock 265/70x17. But, if you stay on the hiqhway, fuel economy will be better with the narrow tire.

No photo's. If you like to corner? Don't do it. Wider is better.
The 285 is 31.72" and the 265 is 31.65". I'd be surprised if you get any better mileage with the thinner tire if that's what this is about.

I run 265/70/16 on mine. I like them better than the 255’s it came with

I was debating the 235s because I thought I might like the look of a straighter sidewall since my wheels are only 7" wide. I ended up going with the 265s though.

Having a bulge will protect the rim.

Depends on the terrain you want to tackle and the tread on it.

The LUVW we have can climb trees if you want it to, and it has surprisingly narrow tires. We do this so they cut through snow easily and this is something it does well. Drypack terrain also benefits from the smaller footprint.

However. These tires have very little load capacity, and don't do so well on mud so to compensate they have very deep grooves in the tread. The cornering is great because they have sidewalls on them that are ridiculously thick. They also ride like it too. Like driving on fred flintstones used tires. Horrible.

I think the question is.. What terrain are you looking at?
