2000 rear end in 1998 truck

Hey guys I need some help here. My rear end is getting really loud. I found a used one out of a disc brake 2000 f150.
My question is wether or not I can put the drum brakes off my truck on this rear end as it is missing the rotors and calipers. The truck is a 4x4 if that matters.

I can't answer the brake question, but there 3 sizes of rears used, and you have to match that up - the 4.6 has a 8.8", the 5.4 has a 9.75", and the 7700 package has a 10.25". If the gear ratios are different, you will have issues with the speedometer and odometer. There may be a difference in the speed pickup for the ABS (just guessing at that).

I'm no sure on the disc/drum compatibility either, but the gear ratio *MUST* be the same as yours currently since you have a 4x4.

Just a thought, but unless you know the history, better than swapping in an unknown used unit might be to put new bearings in yours.

Good luck!
