EDGE CTS on a 97 no working
Hi there,
As many of you, I wanted more power ( I tow an Airstream) and I've bought an used EDGE CTS for my FORD F150 1997 4.6 . No way to enter the edge program in the F150 program: Always a message error: véhicule communication error.... error reading file ids during VIN write.... a problem has occurred and the device needs to be reboot... please unplug the device etc....
I've send back to maintenance to the Ogden Edge product and they found the software was corrupted and they reprogrammed and tested it before sending me back ( in France...).
But NO progress... always impossible to use it !
Do you have an advice or idea to what to do ?

How old is it?
Are you sure it is an Edge Evolution CTS (color touch screen) and not just an Edge Evolution (monochrome)?
I ask because the old monochromes had/have cable issues and the cable has been updated several times. I am on my 3rd and so far it has been fine.

Yes, it 's really a CTS, a used one so I've seen there is always the old vin code inside.... I don't know if the original seller has made the stock parameters back for him so I suppose he did ; How can he drive his truck if not ?

The CTS doesn't have cable issues.

I've already sent from France the device to test it, to Edge Ogden USA with my vin code and they return me with the old code from the prior owner... for free ( they pay the shipping back) . Do you think I have to send it again to change the vin code ? No other way to do that so I don't want to see my F150 blocked with a wrong manipulation....

Bruno, it DOES sound to me like the device is "locked" to the previous owner's vehicle, especially if it shows his VIN code.
Have you tried updating the firmware in it using the Fusion application which you should be able to download free from Edge? If it accepts the update, that may correct your issue.

I have sent again an email to Edge support to know what to do again.... I know the Fusion application where I've already an account but.... not easy to access it as my computer in a Mac... I've to find a PC to go back but I remember it was unsuccessful to resolve my problem before sending my device to Edge for the first time.....
NB; I don't understand how EDGE, an electronic company, can't be compatible with a Mac.... more and more people use it instead of a PC system.....
