Exclamation No Start - Theft Indicator Flashing

guys it has been a while since I have been on. sorry!!! I need help again. I have a 1999 model xlt with a 5.4 liter 328k miles. I have a problem with the engine firing, it will turn over but doesn't fire. the theft light is flashing rapidly. after some investigating I replaced the pcm relay fuse. I have been trying to figure this out for over a year now and it is still just sitting. I really want to get it running. I am now after talks with a fellow friend and parts store owner trying to relearn it. not sure what direction to go other then take it to dealer and pay 3-500$ to get it repaired . it is not my primary truck. I do own a 3.5 liter ecoboost with over 100k on it now and love it. just hate to see my other sitting/ any help is most welcome and thanks in advance

Scooley - I moved your post to a new thread in the 97-03 section. Your problem does not sound like an "engine" problem, so I moved it out of the V8 section.

Sounds like a PATS issue.

Turn the key to Run and let it set for a couple minutes.
It should flash a two digit code.
If so. post that code number.
Good luck.

Of course it is, that's what the fast-flashing THEFT light means. However, that's not definitive that it's a PATS-specific fault, it can also be an un-powered PCM as the PCM is an integral part of multiple systems, including PATS.

The 99 should have an LCD digital odometer. Does it work correctly when the key is first turned on or does it display all dashes?

If it works correctly, put the cluster into dealer test mode (Google it) and check for cluster DTCs. They will be far more useful than any lamp flash codes.
