dip stick

The tip of my dip stick broke in the tube as I was putting it back in. Is there a screen at the bottom of the dipstick tube that would catch the tip and prevent from going into the oil pan? I have a 1998 F150.

Nope. It shouldn't hurt anything. It should stay on the bottom of the pan. The oil pump strainer should catch it. Then the filter should catch it.
