In search of help or suggestions

I currently own 2000 ford f150 xlt with 4.2 v6 5 speed overdrive ...
I currently have in my possession 2002 svt 5.4 v8
I want to swap the current 8 .8 r 3.55 ear end....
I wish to swap to 2003 9.75 with 3.73 svt rear end....
My question will it bolt directly?
Will there be any special modifications?
Besides shorting and balancing the driveshaft....
Changing the engine harnesses and emc......

Thanks for any feed back, wms283us

The computer system is originally programmed to the 3.55 gear ratio for speedometer calibration plus some other software control functions.
I know the speed indication will not be near correct.
As to any other effects, it would remain to be seen.
As for mounting, I don't know what you will run into.
Depends on how speed is detected, ABS brake control, EMG brake etc.
Good luck.

Well, yes and no.

You won't have too much fabbing up to do other than wiring, driveshaft, and the computer.

One thing you didn't mention, was the fact that you didn't get a Four-speed automatic (4R100). You have a 4r70w, and that motor will eat that transmission and spit it out.

Your 5 speed manual will not bolt to a 5.4, you will need a different transmission and the associated PCM. A 5 speed from a 4.6 will bolt up, but will not last and cannot be beefed. A 4R100 is what came with the SVT, a 4R70W will hold up if it's beefed up significantly.

I didn't see the OP had a 5 speed M5OD... yup, glc is right, that one won't bolt up and you wouldn't want it to either.

I appreciate the input, but it's there 5 speed tranny that will directly bolt up to the lightning engine?

Yes, a M5OD out of a 99-03 F-150 with a 4.6, same drive type (2wd or 4wd). It will NOT last though. A 97-98 tranny will work, but the shift lever isn't in the exact same place.

Not a direct boltin, but a ZF out of a 5.4 or 6.8 Super Duty will work. Requires a 3" body lift or cut a big hole in the floor.

Project 2000 F-150 Supercab swap out 4.2 V6 with manual ttransmission to 2002 lighting 5.4 V8....
I have a general question in regards to the transmission swap.
I wish to stay with manual transmission.
I was wondering if anyone had used Ford GT Tremec 6 speed manual transmission on 2002 lighting 5.4 V8.If so would it be direct bolt up?
Is this tranny strong enough to hold the torque of the lightning engine?
