5.4 4v swap?

I just searched and found nothing has anyone done a 4v swap into a 97-03 f150 none Blackwood of course. I can either get one out of a navi or Blackwood, and if someone has done it have they had wiring issues, will the engine harness bolt up and not need pin moving to use the factory Pcm that's already there

People have done it. I don't know much about the swap itself.

In general I'd use as much as possible off the donor vehicle.

I would think if your keeping the pcm, you would keep the same wiring harness. There's no reason your pcm/sensors wouldn't run the 4v. Same injectors? Prolly would at least need COP adapters.

Really the block on all 4.6/5.4 2/3/4 valve are essentially the same. Given the 5.4 are a lil wider and higher because of the longer stroke.same bore. The timing cover and heads vary.

Your best bet is to read mustang forums and go from there. I wanted to do a 4v but would have a problem bolting my 4.6 2v fly-by-wire TB to the 4V 5.4 intake manifold. I ended up buying mustang adapter plates and bolting in the 2v 5.4 short block. It's the only 2v 5.4 fly by wire truck in existence.

Good luck on your build! Keep us posted!

Your 97 has coil packs so use them. Personally I would use the 97 PCM and wire harness. This will eliminate chasing gremlins in the wiring. The last thing you want to be doing is checking that the 4v wiring is compatible with the 97.

Profile says he has a 03, which is COP, not coil pack, unless it's a V6.

glc, glad you pointed that out. There will be issues with the intake manifold runner valve. The F-150 doesn't have one. This valve opens up to change the path of the incoming air in the intake manifold.

The V6 has a IMRC, the 4.6/5.4 2v doesn't. Are you saying the 4v has one?

I am sure the 4.6 DOHC has them but now you have created doubt about the 5.4 DOHC. I will check and get back.

I have a 03 supercrew 5.4 2v im a tech at a ford dealer and have access to wiring diagrams there was few different pin loactions for grounds one power and different for tranny, that was based off of a 02 navi I haven't checked the blackwoods to see what tranny they have and what not, finding a blackwood would be a lot harder than a navi lol

I'm pretty sure the Navi and Blackwood 4 valves used the 4R100. You most likely have a 4R70W in your 03 truck.

that's correct just realized that the tranny harness and engine harness are separate so ill just get a engine harness for a 4v and If I need to swap pins for whatever I will and it will be a clean install

Are you going to keep the 4R70W or are you also going to swap a 4R100 in?
