The use of a memory saver needs expanded explanation, not just don't use one.
In some vehicles, the loss of battery is taken by some systems at a Theft attempt.
A radio or other device may have a code number required to restore operation once power is interrupted.
.
A. You better have the code or lose the use of the device to restore operation.
A Memory saver would be required to avoid this situation.
B. The saver device needs to be inserted before removing the main battery connection.
This saver won't operate interior lights, under hood lights or any other circuit with significant drain and will run the saver down in short order negating the saver function if attention in not paid to this.
C. The Air Bag system will still be active such that it can be triggered if working near or on that system. The bag circuits are in bright Yellow wire leads.
D. Some trucks will auto lock the doors so you need a key to get back in, once the battery has been reconnected. Take you key out or roll a window down before beginning work.
.
So the answer depends on who is doing it and how well they understand the use of a saver and what vehicle has devices that can be affected with or without using one..
Good luck.
