New Project - 02 Supercrew 4x4

Well guys, i pulled the trigger on a project truck. It needs a transmission, a good buff, new rear window, and a few other minor things. Has 200k miles on the 5.4L. Got it for $1400. Didnt think that was too bad. Should be a fun project!

Have i got myself i deep with replacing a transmission? Or is this something that is do-able, maybe just time consuming?

Just time consuming. Not terribly difficult.

Looks like a perfect candidate for a V10 swap

Without a transmission jack, that job will require multiple people unless you're really strong. You'll need a lot of extensions for your sockets to get the transmission to engine bolts out. Be careful supporting the engine not to bend the oil pan. I rigged up a support to hold it from above after I messed up my oil pan.

I used this jack from Harbor Freight and it's great.
