Bed removal?

Im not sure if this is the right sport for this or not....if not please move.
But how hard is it to remove the bed from a 2001 f150 scab 4x2 5.4l.....Do you just have to remove the torx bolts? What about tail light wiring? I need to move it back for access to the tank to pull the fuel pump...Thanks

Munoxide, I moved your thread to the 97-03 section. You should get better responses here than in the V8 engine forum.

I removed my bed on a 2000 Supercab. In short, it's painful. The problem is that the bed bolts are put in with Locktite red (permanent). There are six bolts on a short bed. I'd get six torx bits (T59, IIRC). Spend a few days spraying them as best you can with PB Blaster or the like. You will need an impact wrench and a lot of compressed air. In the six that I did, two came out. The other four were a combination of heat, impact wrench, multiple torx bits, drilling, and for the last two, a cutting torch. Plan to replace the bolts. They will come out, but it's tough. Ford never plans for them to.
