Start by disassembling your dash and inspecting all wiring...

I have a 2006 Fusion that had the airbags deploy, nearly every wiring harness under the dash had some amount of damage and several required replacement...

I have never heard of airbag deployment destroying wiring...

Anyway, you'll need to replace both airbags and the airbag module - there is a part inside that breaks under a certain G force, so they can't be reset. For the seatbelts, you can replace the assembly or install a resistor in the connector so the airbag module thinks the pretensioners are still OK. I THINK the resistor is 2.2 Ohms, but do your own research. Also, give me the part number for the airbag (restraint) module you have. I may have one laying around for your truck.

So what was it then? Did mice get in there and tear up the wiring??? I think not.

THAT I have seen. I can say with confidence that an airbag deployment in a 97-03 F150\Expedition does not cause wiring damage.

Maybe your repair shop was milking the insurance company.
