P0720 is for the output shaft speed sensor. I'm not sure I understand your question. There is a turbine speed sensor in the front of the transmission, the output shaft speed sensor on the tail of the transmission and the vehicle speed sensor is on the rear differential.

That's because you have a different transmission than the one in the picture - which I discovered from your other thread.

This is one reason not to have two threads going about the same subject.
Apparently the replacement trans is not the correct equipage for your year.
The VSS signal is taken from the transmission up to a certain year then taken from the rear end sensor location later on.
Especially when the change over took place to the electronic dash.
When doing trans replacements one must be sure the equipage fits the year.
Some of the plugups are different as well as some sensor locations.
You have to have them all for the system to work correctly.
You purchase from a remote supplier and you take a chance it is not correct in all respects.
I would take the numbers off the replacement and get a match for the correct vehicle it was used in as a start, to understand what situation you have.
Doing parts swaps in these trucks is difficult as changes were made as the years rolled by. Sometimes certain change overs can be made in such areas as the wiring plugs but you have to know what this is all about and have the info to go by for the matchups..
The VSS signal is very important because it's used for many functions the PCM performs.

Good luck.
