2001 F-150 7700 Questions about History

Hello,

I just bought a 2001 4x4 F-150 CNG/gas Extended Cab yesterday and have come to find out that it is a 7700 model. It has the 7 lug wheels and the 7700 on the tailgate. However, I am hoping to get some more info on this particular truck from anyone that can help. It has 168k miles but runs like a top. I drove 9 similar model f-150s over the two week period of looking for a pickup before I bought this one and by far this one drives the best out of all of them. The truck appears to be exceptionally well maintained and from what I have found out, it was some sort of fleet vehicle from Arizona. However,I know literally nothing else about it.

It has no options what so ever, no power windows/locks, no cruise control and an AM/FM tape player. It does have a 5.4L v8, 4 wheel drive, and runs on CNG or gas. Inside the truck, there are no floor mats and the floor appears to be rhino lined or something similar (see pictures). Was this a factory installation or something the fleet company added? The truck also has a small antenna on the back window and a hookup for said antenna inside the truck cab. Along with the hookup for the antenna, it has a cluster of wires on the passenger side, near the doors. The last oddity is a small yellow switch on the right side of the steering wheel. The switch is NOT the gas selector for CNG/Gasoline as that is on the other side of the steering wheel and looks different. The switch appears to be for something that was in the truck that the fleet used it for, but I have no idea what it could be.

The vin on the truck is 2FTPX18Z11CA76615

I love this truck, in fact, I love it so much I would like to know how to buy another one! But I have no idea where to look. I bought it by complete chance as I found it on craigslist and neither me nor the previous owner knew there was anything special about it.

Thanks,
Casey

The floor mats come like this in your base models. My 7700 is an xlt model with cruise. air and power options. All in all its a 3/4 ton F150. Has the 4r100 trans, 10.25" rear, bigger brakes, "better frame" ect.... Mines not CNG compatible though. If you order parts you will have to order parts for a 98 F250 LD. Most retail stores dont offer the 7700 as an option.

It MAY not have a 4R100 - they downsized to the 4R70 by the time they stopped making them, I don't know exactly when. Check the door jamb sticker - Trans E is a 4R100, U is a 4R70.

From the look of the wires it looks like it might have had strobes or leds for road use. The wires look shielded.

I found a strange light in the turn signal light housing on the front. It's sort of a curled looking light with a wire running around the lens. I tried everything to turn it on, but can't seem to do that.

Its a strobe light. See if there are more. If you wanna pull them out, I'd be interested in taking them off your hands.

The yellow switch looks to be a very nicely installed lighted toggle switch; probably used to control the missing strobe light....
