Best Oil for High Mileage
I have ~420k miles on my 98, approx 320k on the engine alone. I use 6.5qts of SuperTech (Wal-Mart oil) 5W-20 with a Motorcraft FL400S filter and nothing else. I burn about a qt every 5k miles.
Ok..after poor 5w20 my engine develop a tap/click noise I gained MPG but I gained this noise
Yes, never use any oil besides 5w-20 in these things. Got a nasty rattle when put otherwise, and that oil was black as night only after 3500 miles.
I've got 179,000 on mine, and shall never again use anything else but 5w-20.

All right fellows, now the oil level is killing me because this is my first F150 and I used the method of fill until the top dot and I learned today that this Trucks are different I have 7 qt in ny engine,is that too much?? And how to read this dipstick?? Thanks again
Thanks brother I'll drain out tomorrow morning
Same thing here!!
From what I heard, car engines will froth the oil and the air/oil mix will lead to inadequate oil coverage.
As for my airplane's 320ci engine, she will blow out anything over 8qts. Picky things, those engines.
