How to tell what size gas tank?

Hi all. '97 f-150, 4.6l, 2wd, 8' bed, regular cab. Without emptying it and filling it up, how can I tell exactly what size my gas tank is? Are there identifying marks? Thanks.

The two options for that generation were 25 and 30 gal. The long wheelbases usually had the larger tank, so I'm guessing you have the 30 with your 8' bed.

Thanks, but I need more than a guess... There must be a way, a part number stamp or something... I've found at least three different sizes listed as fitting my truck on parts websites.

Like the man said on the other site, the 30 gallon tank is 66 inches long.

8' bed came with 30.0 gallon tank. If you want to get more specific, that's 120 quarts, 240 pints, 480 cups, or 3,840 fl oz
