keypad entry on an xlt?

I was looking in my owners manual the other day and found a card that had a code on it for keypad entry. Well my truck is a 2001 xlt (first owner) and have never had a keypad entry. So i searched the internet and found that if you look under your steering wheel and there is a white box with a code then you have keypad entry. I have this box, so i took off my driveside door and searched for any extra wires but couldn't find any. Is there anyway i could buy the wiring harness for the keypad and get this to work? (i've posted this on other forum a couple days ago but never got any real respones on if this is possible or not and why i have this box if my truck package never had one)

Weird... Looks like Ford forgot to install it. The keypad is paired to that white box, so you could install it, but then you'll need the dealer to activate it.

The factory one is not wireless and it's built into the door handle. The wireless one (7L2Z-14A626-BA) is an add on item that works on most if not all Fords with factory keyless entry. You can stick it on the roof, or under the fuel door if you wanted. It can be programmed without a dealer visit.

you need to buy a keypad handle, and extend the harness about 2' to go around the window regulator. The harness is inside the door shell between the glass and the inside frame of the door. its in the upper right hand corner should be about 3/4" roundish connector clipped inside the frame.

Also you might want to pull that RKE module picture down because it contains your truck exclusive 5 digit pin number on the face of the module

took down the pic, but i pulled my door apart and couldnt find any extra wires. are the wires connected to the module apart of the keyless entry harness for my door? If they are i should just be able to follow the wires till i find the harnes

I also pulled the door apart on my 99 XLT thinking there were wires tucked away . There was none . I might look in the A pillar to see if there is a plug somewhere this summer

I installed the keypad on my '99 xlt. I did not have the harness so I wired it in myself into the white PATS box. It us doable but you need to add pins into the connector.

Yes thats where I found it when I added the keypad and keypad handle to mine. It also where the connector for adding my Muth turn signal mirrors was.

There used to be a big write up here with part numbers for adding to F150 / Expeditions way back along with pictures. I followed it to add the keypad to mine.
