Gage problem?

Hi guys,
I think I may have a Gage problem. I bought my truck from a used car dealer, the type that only gives you a 30 day warranty. It is a 1997 F-150 XTL, W/4.6 engine. The dealer, after he got it, blew the head gasket and cracked the head. He had the engine rebuilt at 200K. I got it at 202K, The problem is after 20 miles or so, the temp Gage is barely registering at the bottom of the cold range.

Is this normal or should I get a new thermostat sending unit or a new Gage?

Thanks,
Gegoff

Gegoff, I moved your thread to the 1997-2003 forum. You should get better responses here to your concern than in the Forum Suggestions section.

I suspect a temperature sender problem. If the engine overheated with the head gasket fiasco, I think it could have destroyed the sender. I don't think they are expensive to replace and would start there.

Other members may have much better advice, however.
