My justification? I've wanted a lifted truck for a long time, and if I don't do it now, I may never be able to have one in the future. Maybe I'll have 10 lifted trucks by the time I die, but maybe I won't have any. Cars are the one thing I care about and that I HAVE to have all the time (like have a cool car/truck), but kids/family may come first for the next 30 years.

How far away is your college from where you live? Cause you really don't drive much at college, especially if you live on campus. I only drove on the weekends pretty much my whole first year. I'm gonna get 9 MPG, but when a tank lasts 3-4 weeks, who cares?

If you're thinking of swapping the 5.4 in, (?) I wouldn't open that can of worms.
You're right again. I can use some narrow tires! And I know we decided 1.5 level and 3.5 spindle but a 3 inch body lift and and 3 inch spindle because my boss can get me a body lift a little cheaper brand new. But 5.4 swap isn't gonna happen after talking to my dad, at least not any time soon. That's an after college project he says. And college is about a 30-40 min highway ride from my house for this year only, I'm still in HS but taking college classes. My commute next year will not be far though BC I will be on campus just like you said!!!!!!!!!

The 3" BL and 3" spindles are more suspension friendly, so that works too. But yeah, I'd definitely never start a 5.4 swap if I were you. No real need to anyway. I forgot you just finished your junior year. But as far as MPG goes, I'd just choke it down for the next year, then it basically becomes a non-factor. I figure if I'm gonna get 12-14 when I baby it while stock, might as well lift it and stomp on it all the time and get 9-10 haha.

Well I found this online today. Its got 3.5 inch spindle with 2 inch lift coil (like pizza recommended) shocks, rear block, and and longer u bolts. What do you think? I personally think I'll need better shocks and bigger rear block!

I think you'd be a little low in the rear, but I'd just roll with that the way it is and add a bigger block later if you decide you need to.

Yeah, I would definitely be low. I'd just buy the bigger block from the get go. Haven't heard from pizza in a while. Wonder if he's seen this lift before. I really like the feedback from you guys. Learned so much from you both. Either of you have experience with headers? What do they do and should I upgrade mine?

Well you're giving the front 2.5" more lift, and there's probably 2" or so of rake, so they'll be pretty close.

Who makes that? He's much more familiar with your body style than I am. I'm glad we're helping out, I've learned a lot from him myself.

I put long tubes headers on my truck. They're a PITA to install on 04+, but not nearly as bad for you. You have much better and easier access to all the bolts than I did. They make your truck sound mean as hell, but that's about it. I did it purely for sound, but expected to pick up some power too, which I pretty much didn't. My opinion? Not worth the money unless you absolutely HAVE to have them for the sound, otherwise, don't bother. Plus you'd be looking at a minimum of $800 for Pacesetters ($400), Maggies high flow cats ($200), header bolts ($5 replacements or $100 ones) and then having it welded all together ($200-who knows how much). Or actually you could get the OBX kit (which I have), which mates up to your factory exhaust (should anyway) for like $600 something. And these prices are all if you install the headers yourself. Big money project. Granted my entire exhaust is 304 stainless steel, but I have 1,300 some dollars just in parts in my exhaust system.

Not sure what that MaxTrac kit is running, but you can get the same kit minus the shocks from canuckmotorsports for $532. The shocks these companies offer are crap anyway. Haven't really heard anything about MaxTrac before, but then again I've been out of the truck world for about a year. A lot of us have ran the canuck/doestch kits with no problems, and they usually cost less than the other companies.

Buying the 5.5inch lift from Cauckmotorsports and then a 275/70/18 wheel/tire combo. This and labor will be $2100. Tuner is $399. So $$2500. I want new gears next. Should I get 4.10s or 4.11s for power and mpg. I know they will run me with labor about $800-$1500 depending. I just want to save the strain on my 230,000+ miled 4.6 and its 3 tear old tranny. Any have suggestions with links or websites to gears?

The lift, wheels, and tires is all only $2100? Or just the lift and install?

Yukon is the best, but also really expensive. G2 and Motive are good also. I'll probably be doing G2 cause they're 300 some dollars cheaper than Yukons when I got quotes. Got quoted $1050 or so for the G2s. 4wheelparts.com should have everything.

For the gears, the difference between 4.10 and 4.11's is so miniscule that won't be able to tell the difference. I'd go with what you can get the best deal on.

Hopefully its everything for 2100. Labor for these lifts is pretty cheap. Like 2-3 hours.

I have a quick question, a 4x4 f150 is lifted 6 inches and a 4x2 f150 is lifted 6 inches, both have 35x12.50x17 tires on them. How much higher would the 4x4 sit?
