1998 towing

I have a 1998 f150 ,4.2 5 speed with 6 foot box and I installed 4 leaf hd springs . Can I pull a 24 foot travel trailer?

Nope, not even close. Depending on axle ratio, your towing limit is anywhere from 2000# to 3500#. It's not spring limited, it's the transmission and clutch. Even with an automatic, your limit would be no more than 5000#.

Look at owner Manuel page 114 under 4x2 Manuel trans for the total gross weight for two axle ratios.
The 3.08 max Gross Combined Weight is 6500 lbs. with trailer weight of 2300 lbs.
The 3.55 max is 7800 with a 3600 lb trailer.
.
A 24 foot trailer will weigh more then the truck.
You can't have a situation like this.
The truck is not designed for this.
You really need an F250 to fully handle such a trailer with a good amount of extra capacity in weight, tires, suspension, braking, transmission and motor.
Good luck.

A F-150 can tow a 24 footer just fine, but not one with a V-6 and a M5OD. I'm guessing a loaded 24 footer will be in the 6000# range which is well within the limits of a V-8 automatic F-150 unless you also have the cab and bed packed full.

ya with the 6 your screwed.. I used the bosses double wide heavy duty sled deck to haul my atv's. Had a heck of a time making it up hills.. I ended up having to build a lighter trailer that will just fit the quads with no extra room just so i could tow them easily.. amazing what shaving 500lbs+ of a trailer will do.
Instead of the HD springs you should have went with airbags. Just installed in my truck and they hake the truck ride great.
