Air flow shroud
Air flow shroud
I just recently bought a 2003 f150. It has the 4.6L v8. It's has a body lift so they took the shroud completely off and put and electric fan in. I removed the electric fan because it wasn't hooked up right. Should I get a shroud and put it on and cut it to fit the fan on the motor, should I put the electric fan on the radiator, then get a shroud and remove the fan on the motor, or should I just leave it how it is. Our fear is that it'll over heat without it but we aren't that sure. Thanks.
I would say stick to the electric fan if it is sized properly and installed properly. It is considered an upgrade to some. Less restrictive mass on the rotating assembly. Make sure someone didnt just throw in some under rated cheap fans and a cheap controller. How is the controller setup? That would be my concern. Quality fan properly installed and a quality variable speed controller with soft start is optimum.
