Completely Dead

hey guys, 99 F-150 4.2 xl I have.

I'm losing my mind here trying to uncover what seems to be a mystery to me... The other day I drove home, no problems. Today, went to start vehicle up and shes dead as a doornail. I have absolutely no power to anything. I checked the voltage of the battery itself and found its dead on 12 volts. When I do connect the battery charger to it on top of the cable posts I do not get any charging ability to it whatsoever.

I attempted to check the resistance from positive post to the ECM and it seems ok. (Just used ohmeter) I think I did it correctly... (Bat wasn't connected)

Now the fact I get no ability to charge the battery when the charger is on the cables gives me the idea that it is a bad ground ... Now do you guys have any idea as to what ground would cause something like this or should I just jump in cold turkey and buy new cables.

Thank you a million in advance. Let me know if you need any other info!

(Other questions/info)
-How would one check the ecm to be defective (I don't think so as it was fine the other night)
-Bat cables are tight. Cleaned them up with a brush
-Nothing at all happens when I touch the cables to the battery. Usually you get a little spark or sound indicating you have a connection.

Sounds like your charger is broke. Try it without the cables attached.

The battery could be shorted internally - pull it and take it to the store to get tested. Got a multimeter to check its voltage?
