5.4 vs 4.6 differences
well, i have this 2.2L kenne bell, it says on it 02 f150 5.4, ive been told it will also fit a 4.6 2v truck engine. however ive always been told it wont fit the 4.6 truck engine. im not too well versed on the ford engines so im asking.
The 5.4 has a longer stroke which is where the extra displacement comes from.
With that considered the 5.4 has a taller deck height. The heads are identical on both blocks, but due to increased deck height the intake manifold is spaced apart differently on the blocks. To run that KB you will need 4.6 to 5.4 adapter plates. They are really hard to come by.
There are supercharger systems for the 4.6, that might be the best route. If you want to keep your setup you will need to find some of these. Last i heard, they no longer are manufactured.
You could more or less keep your exsisting manifold if you went with a centrifugal s/c. But roots or twin screw s/c is the way to go, it's a lot of fun to drive!
