Odd brake situation

I just changed my rear brakes and rotors this weekend. The ones that were on it I believe were the originals just by the way they looked. the rotors were shot beyond belief. Anyhow, when I changed the driver side I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary except some hairline cracks in the pads. The passenger side was much worse. The inside pad was worn down to bare metal and the outside pad had about 1/4 of the pad left I thought maybe the brake was dragging on the side but the cylinder pushed back in smooth without any problems and if the brake was dragging wouldnt both pads equally be destroyed?. Out of the 100s of brakes I have changed over the yrs I never seen something like this. Anyone else witnessed something similar?

WD40 and some grease should do the trick then. I never thought about looking at those.
