Smile Alarm issues

we have a 2003 ford f150 5.4 triton. We recently replaced alternator and battery. We have not used the plastic lock, unlock and horn for years. after putting the battery in the truck horn started honking 2 times when we started the truck. then all of a sudden went to a friends car would not start. we disconnected negative waited and it reset alarm and all was good for about a week or so. now car will start every once in a while. we have 2 keys and 2 of the plastic do dads. Please any suggestions. this is our only vehicle on a limited income. I don't have the funds to take it to the dealer. can the keys and alarms be reset ??? Thanks is advance for any help given.

Recheck connections. Look for corrosion on the main starter wire.
