p0171 and p0174 but its running great
p0171 and p0174 but its running great
I have a 99 f150 with a 5.4 with 125k on it. I already replaced both bank 1 o2 sensors, maf sensor, pcv valve and have run 93 through with a ton of fuel injector cleaner and still has the codes 2 months later, But it doesn't run rough it runs decent just won't spin tire like it used to. Any suggestions? And thanks in advance for any advice
I have, even replaced elbows and vac lines that didn't look or need replaced. Went through a case of carb spray and still nothing. But theirs a couple things I forgot to mention theirs new heads, head and intake gaskets (of course) and a pcm reprogram to make sure
I would say you need new cats, but you would get an emissions code if those were bad..
Did you use a motorcraft pcv valve?,
Any exhaust leaks by or before they pipe?

You're gonna want to use a stock motorcraft one. The after market ones don't work right. They let to much oil blow by.
I guess double check all your gaskets. Make sure all your hoses are on right and tight. Also check by your battery.. A lot of times those evap hoses go bad.

Everyone!
Your not interpreting the codes correctly.
Many of the parts were replaced and additives used for no good reason.
The codes are the result of the "software fuel tables" being shifted too the rich side 'out of limits' trying to correct for to much air (a lean condition).
Ox sensors don't cause this condition.
Gas additives don't help either. In fact they lean out the fuel even more.
You have an air leak not found yet.
Yes the truck will run fine because it's still getting enough fuel but the codes are telling you there is a problem well before a drivability problem becomes apparent..
Hoses, rubber parts, dip stick tube, loose oil full cap etc. any place unacounted for air gets in.
Good luck.

Update: my buddy finally found his ford scanner and we hooked it while it was running and found out the new maf sensor was bad' replaced it under warranty and drove it 200 miles total over the weekend and the problem has gone away normally the codes would have appeared back after 60 miles so so far so good. Thanks for all the help
