Back up camera?

Has anyone installed a backup camera on our body style of trucks? If so where did you put the camera?

On my 97 F-150, I put the camera just above the license plate, using the camera mount for license plates. The problem I have with it is that it's not very much higher than the trailer hitch, so when I'm trying to hook up the boat, it's difficult the judge the depth - ie, the distance to the trailer -with the result that I still have to get in and out of the truck a couple times to inspect before it's finally lined up and I can drop the trailer on the hitch.

If I did it again, I'd get one of the camera setups that mounts up on the tail gate and looks down at the hitch. The kind that mounts under the blue oval is what I'm thinking of. Alas, I don't have any good links for you on that topic.

But I think you'll like the camera perspective given by the higher mount.

ON put my back up camera on the license plate top side. but I don't tow.

P.S. some cameras are adjustable so if you put it on top of license you might be able to adjust it down to see ball

on the 97-03 f150 the oval isnt in the middle of the tailgate.. so unless u plan to shave the oval that is in the right hand corner of the tailgate and put the 2009 and up oval with the camera in it , in the middle of the tailgate that wont work.. but thats just me..

i used to have one mounted on the right side of the license plate in the bumper of my 98.. it worked, didnt line up a trailer real well, but did let you see everything behind you.. ill be looking to do this real soon as well.. might just end up with one of those cameras thats molded into the license plate bracket..

Might be able to make something where it mounts on the tailgate handle.
