installed temp gauge with pics

Today I installed a Sunpro temp gauge. I like looking at numbers when it comes to temperature, so I got this. There was nothing wrong with the old one though. the install was pretty straight foward, except one thing.. I forgot to drain the rad a little bit before taking the temp sender out of the manifold and coolant went everywhere! but i haven't gotten any codes, and it runs fine so maybe none got in the plug wells. The wires and plugs are new so I hope not.

I want some opinions on where I mounted this. Like is it a good spot, or if you can think of a better spot to put it.

thanks.

Might be hard to see it when driving, your arm might be in the way. Also might be an issue with banging your knee on it. I might have gone with a single pod that can be placed on the top of the steering column.

If you like it and can see it while driving then it's perfect, if not then It depends how custom you want to go! Ive got a 3 gauge pillar pod and I'm thinking of doing 2 more in the dash just above and to the right of the gauges. Lots of work though!

Could get a little dangerous being that low looking at it while driving

Do they make an air vent mount for your year?

Yes there are TONS of pod options, pretty much anywhere you can think of putting it, someone makes pods for it.

That would not be my first choice for location, in fact, not my second or third choices.... But that's just me and if it works for you, that's all that matters!

Always nice to have a real gauge to look at... The factory one is nothing more than the warning light with a needle on it... (in other words, it'll never move until you are REALLY overheating!).

Anyway, I did a 2 pod deal with a trans temp gauge too... I tow a #5000 TT and it's nice to know the trans temp too..

I did this mod about 11 years ago and wouldn't be without it!

Yeah, I really like the pod to the left like yours. I might order that, or one that goes over the steering column. How did you wire yours up to get the lights on? Did you wire it to the light switch? I still haven't wired mine yet until I get a good location and pod for it.

Hi Robert. I pulled out the headlight switch and found the wire that was hot when the lights are turned on and spliced into it. (used a 12v test light). I put a little 2a inline fuse as well. So far so good and still on the original blubs in the gauges!

I thought about the steering column pod too, but since I knew I wanted at least 2 gauges, the A piller pod was the only way to go..
